How Orforglipron works

Foundayo is a prescription medicine containing orforglipron, a first-in-class small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist. It is FDA-approved (April 2026) and UAE EDE-approved for chronic weight management alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity in eligible adults.
Per the FDA-approved prescribing information, Foundayo is indicated for adults with a BMI of 30 kg/m² or above, or a BMI from 27 to under 30 kg/m² with at least one weight-related health condition (such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, or high cholesterol). A UAE-licensed physician must assess eligibility.
Take one tablet by mouth once daily. Unlike other oral GLP-1s, Foundayo can be taken at any time of day, with or without food, water, or a fasting window. Swallow the tablet whole.
Treatment begins at 0.8 mg once daily and is escalated in six steps over at least five months: 0.8 → 2.5 → 5.5 → 9 → 14.5 → 17.2 mg. Each step lasts a minimum of 30 days before the next increase, as directed by your physician.

The most frequently reported effects in trials include nausea, constipation, diarrhoea, vomiting, indigestion, and abdominal pain. Foundayo carries an FDA boxed warning for the risk of thyroid C-cell tumours. It is contraindicated in people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2.
Foundayo must not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Contact your physician promptly if you become pregnant while on treatment.
